Berman & Simmons, P.A., a litigation law firm in Lewiston, is seeking a Paralegal to support the practice of a firm shareholder in plaintiff’s personal injury cases.
A litigation paralegal helps manage civil cases from intake to jury verdict. The Paralegal role offers a supportive and collaborative environment in which you will manage cases, organize and review medical records, write summaries of medical records, draft parts of demand letters and court filings, conduct research, draft correspondence, draft and revise discovery, interact with national expert witnesses, and prepare the attorney for trial.
This practice specializes in seeking justice for survivors who have suffered injury, loss, or other trauma as a result of professional negligence by a health care provider. To respond to increasing demand and specialization, we are seeking applicants with experience from backgrounds including social service agencies with case management; trauma-informed professionals; nurse case managers; law enforcement investigation; other pertinent experience.
Applicants should have the ability to work effectively as a member of a team with attorneys, clients, other paralegals, legal assistants, and outside organizations, as well as have strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage many duties simultaneously. Strong interpersonal communication and writing skills, as well as an aptitude for technology, are essential for success in this role.
Primary qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred, however other work experience and education will be considered. Advanced degree and professionally credentialed applicants are welcome.
- Experience reading and interpreting medical records.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneDrive is required.
- Prior experience as a Paralegal is helpful, but not required.
This position is full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. in the Lewiston office.
Salary: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour, based on experience.
