WABI TV interviews Berman & Simmons lawyer about amusement park ride safety

WABI TV 5, the CBS affiliate in Bangor, Maine, interviewed Berman & Simmons attorney Daniel Kagan today about amusement park ride safety. The television report comes on the heels of two incidents that caused injuries at a carnival in Waterville over the weekend of June 13-14.

“The problem is if you rush to create regulations without first knowing exactly what it was that failed, what part of the system failed to create the injury, then you run the risk of creating meaningless legislation that won’t address the problem in the first place,” attorney Kagan told WABI TV 5 reporter John Krinjak.

“It really is incumbent on the operators of rides, the promoters of these events, to make sure that public safety is paramount. It’s not appropriate to rely solely on the state. It’s not the state’s function to be the police force for safety.”
