Berman & Simmons Attorneys Present at the MTLA 2021 Annual Meeting

Berman & Simmons attorneys Susan Faunce and Alicia Curtis addressed the Maine Trial Lawyers Association (MTLA) 2021 Annual Meeting, a half-day of legal education.

Attorney Faunce presented “Review of the Medical Legal Code: Where Have We Been and Where Are We Going” where she delved into the challenges that physicians and attorneys encounter in legal settings that require physician testimonies and participation. She focused on finding ways doctors and lawyers might cooperate in the best interests of clients and patients. The discussion was driven by survey data collected by the Maine State Bar Association and the Maine Medical Association.

Attorney Curtis presented “Navigating UM/UIM Claims: A Guide for Both New and Experienced Attorneys.” This presentation provided an A to Z guide for assessing and handling injury claims involving uninsured or underinsured vehicles in Maine, from identifying all available policies to strategies for maximizing a client’s recovery and presenting cases against the insurance company at trial. The attorneys also provided a broad overview of UM/UIM law and practice, to help both new and experienced attorneys spot issues and resolve them.

Berman & Simmons lawyers frequently organize and present at educational seminars, workshops, and other legal programming.
