Berman & Simmons Attorneys Invited to Present at the 2022 MSBA Winter Bar Conference

Berman & Simmons attorneys Susan Faunce, Chuck Hehmeyer, and Daniel Kagan recently presented at the 2022 Maine State Bar Association (MSBA) Winter Bar Conference, held on January 27-28 at The Westin Portland Harborview in Portland, ME.   

Attorneys Susan Faunce and Chuck Hehmeyer co-presented “Internet and Social Media Searches of Jurors – Ethical and Advocacy Considerations.”  They discussed the conflicting opinions and ethics that arise from searching the internet for potential jurors. Real-life demonstrations were presented to show different types of searches that may violate court and/or ethical rules.   

Attorney Daniel Kagan, along with special guests Jeffrey Barkin, M.D, and Kim Block, formerly of WGME, and a brain injury survivor presented “If You’ve Seen One, You’ve Seen One ─ Variability in Brain Injury Recovery.” This presentation answered the questions that remain elusive around the effects of trauma on the brain and how the medical and legal professions work together to help support brain injury victims.
