Berman & Simmons Attorney Jodi Nofsinger Appointed to Advisory Committee for Reviewing Nominations for the Next U.S. Attorney of Maine

The newly formed advisory committee to consider nominations for the next U.S. Attorney of Maine includes Berman & Simmons attorney Jodi Nofsinger. The 11-person committee is responsible for soliciting, interviewing, and reviewing applications for the role, and members were chosen for their leadership and experience in the field by Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, Congressman Jared Golden, and Senator Angus King. Nofsinger serves as the committee chairperson.

“It’s an absolute honor to be chosen for this distinguished committee. I’m looking forward to working with the other respected members for this exciting opportunity,” Nofsinger said.

Nofsinger is well-known in the legal community, often praised for her fierce fight for justice on behalf of her clients and passion for strengthening the liberty of people. Most recently she was elected President to the ACLU of Maine Board of Directors. She became only the 22nd trial lawyer in Maine—and only the third woman—to be inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. She is also a member of the American Association for Justice and is on the Board of Governors for the Maine Trial Lawyers Association.

Pingree, Golden, and King announced the opening of applications for both U.S. Attorney for Maine and U.S. Marshal for Maine on January 28th. The advisory committee will begin their review once nominations close on February 12th, 2021 at 5pm. The advice the committee extends will be relied on when the congressional recommendation is presented to President Biden.
