About Attorney Charlie King

Attorney Charlie King has experience litigating all stages of personal injury cases, including motor vehicle collisions, premises liability injuries, slip and fall claims, wrongful death claims, and cases against government entities under the Maine Tort Claims Act.

A formidable negotiator and skilled legal advocate, Charlie has a diverse legal practice that includes all types of serious injury cases. From car crashes to fall injuries, to animal attacks and dangerous properties, Charlie is prepared to help bring justice to people who have been injured by the negligence of others.

A Client-Focused Lawyer

Charlie knows that being a lawyer is about serving people. He believes that at its core, good lawyering is about good storytelling, and that he serves his clients best when he tells their stories plainly and truthfully.

“We do what we do because of the people we serve. Solving legal problems is interesting, but my greatest successes come from understanding our clients and making their voices heard.”

Charlie brings a deep level of preparedness and attention to detail to all his cases. He strives to analyze the facts and law of each case to maximize the recovery for each of his clients. To that end, Charlie has established himself as a leader in finding insurance coverage and defending against contributory negligence claims to help his clients recover the highest degree of compensation for their injuries.

A Skilled and Respected Advocate

Charlie has extensive experience in appellate litigation and motions practice. He has an outstanding track record briefing and arguing motions before Maine’s trial courts, including highly complex motions for summary judgment. Charlie has twice had the distinction of arguing appeals before Maine’s highest court of law: the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. He has also argued before the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and various Louisiana state trial and appellate courts. In addition to practicing across Maine’s sixteen counties, Charlie is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Maine and the United States First Circuit Court of Appeals.

Charlie is well-known for his legal research and writing. He is a contributing author to the 2026 Edition of “Maine Tort Law,” the leading treatise on personal injury law in Maine. His contributions to the treatise included research in the areas of comparative fault, strict liability, and the Maine Liquor Liability Act (a/k/a the “Dramshop” Act). Charlie was invited to speak on the topic of legal writing at the 2025 Maine State Bar Association, and he co-leads the Continuing Legal Education committee of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association.

Years of Experience

After more than a decade practicing law, Charlie still remembers the reason he became a lawyer: to make a difference in the lives of others.

Charlie is the rare attorney whose educational background is in science. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Louisiana State University, where his coursework included the study of kinematics and mechanics. Charlie ultimately realized his passion was to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps by pursuing a career in the law, but his undergraduate studies now make him especially well-equipped to understand the mechanical failures at the core of catastrophic injury cases.

After graduating from Tulane University Law School in 2012, Charlie clerked for Justice James W. Kitchens of the Mississippi Supreme Court, where he saw firsthand how one person’s case can make a difference for everyone.

After years of practicing with a prominent personal injury firm in New Orleans, Charlie moved his family to Maine in 2022. He now lives with his wife and their three children in Auburn, where they enjoy skiing and sledding in the winter months, and camping and hiking in the summer.

Charlie has contributed his legal research and writing expertise to numerous cases, helping build them from the ground up and securing outstanding results for his clients.
