Last November, Berman & Simmons attorneys representing dozens of survivors of childhood sexual abuse by clergy and staff of the Maine Catholic Diocese argued to Maine’s highest court to affirm the new law allowing civil suits without a time limit.
300 days have passed since arguments took place before Maine’s Law Court. Some of the clients that the firm represents are in advanced age – some in their 80’s, and many have serious health issues that add to the sense of urgency for a decision to let their cases move forward.
Attorneys in Berman & Simmons Sexual Abuse Survivors Group advise clients to seek guidance from mental health providers and local MECASA-member advocates. “After coming forward, no one has to go through this alone.”
