Attorney Travis Brennan Joined Survivors of October Mass Shooting in Washington, DC To Press for Investigation

A contingent of six people directly affected by October’s mass shootings in Lewiston, Maine will visit with members of the Maine Congressional delegation. They have many unanswered questions about the events that led to the tragedy and are in Washington seeking information, answers, and accountability to help their healing and with hopes that more shootings can be prevented. Berman & Simmons attorney Travis Brennan and Gideon Asen attorney Benjamin Gideon are the legal representatives for the group and will escort them to the meetings.

There will be four individual, closed-door meetings with Senator King, Senator Collins, Congressman Golden, and Congresswoman Pingree, and an additional meeting with staff from the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. The families and survivors are calling for an independent investigation by the US Army’s Inspector General and the Department of Defense Inspector General into system failures and accountability. The families believe such independent investigations are essential to assuring objectivity and transparency.

Families of those killed in the mass shooting and a gunshot victim:

  • Alan Nickerson (gunshot victim at Schemengees);
  • Arthur Barnard (father of Arthur Strout);
  • Kristy Strout (widow of Arthur Strout);
  • Leroy Walker Sr. (father of Joe Walker);
  • Tracey Walker (widow of Joe Walker);
