Attorney Silin files wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of Steep Falls family

The Berman & Simmons law firm has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Philip Macri arising out of a Dec. 1 crash in Windham, Maine, that killed Rebecca Perry and seriously injured her 15-year-old daughter.

Attorney Steven Silin filed the civil complaint Feb. 8 at Cumberland County Superior Court on behalf of Rebecca’s husband, Justin Perry of Steep Falls.

Rebecca Perry was 38 years old. She and Justin Perry had been married since 2000 and have three children. On the night of Dec. 1, Rebecca was driving south on Route 35 in Windham with her 15-year-old daughter, Gretchen. Philip Macri was driving north on Route 35 when he lost control of his pickup truck, crossed the center line and struck Perry’s pickup truck head-on. Rebecca was killed. Gretchen suffered serious injuries including an orbital face fracture and cervical spine fracture, and spent several weeks in the hospital.

Earlier this month, Windham police arrested Macri on charges including manslaughter and aggravated criminal OUI. Police said he had cocaine and marijuana in his system, and was speeding at the time of the crash. Macri also faces weapons charges because he had a loaded gun with the safety off, in his truck, according to police.
