The attorneys and staff members at Berman & Simmons are proud to contribute their time and financial donations to three localorganizations during the 2017 holiday season: Lewiston Child andFamily Services; Greater Androscoggin Humane Society; andMcMahon Elementary School.
The Office of Child & Family Services seeks safety, well-being and permanent homes forchildren who are homeless due to child abuse or other unsafe conditions. Their mission is to keep childrensafe and to guide families in creating safe homes for children. Employees at the Lewiston office recentlypurchased new personal essentials and filled 25 backpacks for children between the ages of 13-18 who aretransitioning into the Foster System.
The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society (formerly known as the Lewiston-Auburn SPCA) wasincorporated as a nonprofit volunteer organization in Lewiston way back in 1885. The Society’s originalmission was to protect work horses and children from abuse. Today, the organization’s mission is to providethe best possible care for stray, abandoned and abused animals. The organization takes in more than 4,000animals each year at its facility on Strawberry Avenue, which was built in 2006. Nearly 130 years after itwas founded, the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society continues its pledge to work toward a more humanecommunity.
