Berman & Simmons Attorneys Invited to Present at the 2024 MSBA Summer Bar Conference

In two different CLE sessions, Attorneys from Berman & Simmons will present at the 2024 Maine State Bar Association Summer Bar Conference.

In her presentation “Lessons from Trauma-Informed Lawyering: Promoting Attorney Well-Being Amid Successful a Stressful Legal Practice,” Attorney Elizabeth Kayatta will provide a better understanding of how stress impacts attorneys’ abilities to practice law effectively and how to build resilience to its mental, emotional, and psychological effects.

As part of a panel, Attorneys Susan Faunce, Christopher Boots, and Abaigeal Ridge, who are at different points in their legal career, will present “Healthy Mentoring Relationships in the Workplace.” Their discussion will address the importance of meeting consistently; defining case, practice, and professional goals; assignment of work and navigating case transfers from attorneys; the importance of discussing problems in a safe, supportive environment; understanding intergenerational differences and approaches to work; and providing access to resources within or outside the firm.

The event, being held June 26-28, 2024, at the Harborside Hotel, Spa & Marina in Bar Harbor, will include CLE sessions focusing on real estate, family law, trusts and estates, litigation, succession planning, AI, social media, veterans’ disability, ethics, bankruptcy, an important plenary H&D session on Women Lawyers as Leaders, and more. A well-being track will include occupational and intellectual well-being, social well-being, emotional well-being, and mentoring sessions.
