Profile:
Alicia concentrates her practice on personal injury, products liability, and nursing home cases. Prior to joining the firm of Berman & Simmons, she worked for three years at a firm in Portland, where her practice concentrated on medical malpractice, products liability, and health law. She has assisted senior attorneys in complex trials throughout the State and has successfully handled cases herself in State court and before administrative tribunals.
Alicia grew up in Gorham, Maine and graduated from Gorham High School. She earned a B.A. from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, with a Commendation for Academic Excellence. After obtaining a Masters Degree in Social Work from Boston University, Alicia worked in that field for ten years, assisting and advocating for persons with a mental illness and also the homeless.
At the University of Maine School of Law, Alicia won the Hon. Daniel E. Wathen First-Year Legal Writing Prize. In her third year of law school, she was selected to be a Legal Writing Instructor, and also an intern in the Appellate Division of the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Maine. In addition to serving as an Articles Editor on the Maine Law Review, Alicia was selected as Head Articles Editor for a special symposium issue on difference between French and American perspectives towards international law. Alicia was awarded the Faculty Significant Achievement Award at graduation.
Alicia uses her skills in written advocacy and her knowledge and experience of medical issues to help achieve successful results for clients.
